the road ahead

the road ahead

2013 is almost here (or already here for some of you) – and I find it hard to believe how fast time seems to go.  It was a tumultuous year, especially at the end, but there were some great times had in 2012.

My photo selection is from my Fall trip to the Carolinas because it was my favorite trip this year.  I had been wanting to see these colors for years.  Now, I want (need) to go and see them every year!

As much as I love having my photos to reflect upon, I do try to live in the near present, which means keeping focused on the good that is now and ahead.  I’m optimistic for 2013 and excited to meet new people and see new beautiful places.  🙂

Thank you to everyone here who has made the past year so much more wonderful for me with all of your awesome positive comments and encouragement. I wish you all the very best of everything in 2013!!  xoxo

Reflecting on 2012

Reflecting on 2012

Selfy Sunday’s theme this week is The Best of 2012 and you can see the rest of the photos being posted in the event here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/events/cibngf3d6m864shh7cemr3eh82o

Thanks to Jeff Smith & LaDonna Pride for a great year of selfies and fun!!

For me there were many great things in 2012 and the picture I am holding in the photo is one of them – the group shot from my first HIRL in Orlando with some awesome people from G+.  🙂  Just spending a lot of time with my camera was a huge part of my 2012 happiness and I tried to show that here too.

Google+ has made a lot of big changes lately with Communities and such but, to my knowledge, events is still set up in a funky way which creates extra stuff so my photos will usually only be posted this way until that changes.

Have a great last weekend of 2012 everyone!  xo

I hope you all are enjoying a relaxing day today and not out in the post-Christmas madness!  My traditional holiday golf round was great yesterday but my bowling was not so great today (though I’m not good at either of those, golf is just a bit more fun to me.)  Time to do some organizing and get ready for the new year now.  Carry on!  🙂

A little Christmas eve YUM

As I head off to my parent’s house for Christmas Eve activities, I had to thank Sharon Strandskov for the fabulous oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe I used for this year’s Christmas cookies!  (from her Pretty Please… book)  I promised some photos when I made them so here you go…  They really are delicious!!  I hope Santa loves them too.  😉

Have a wonderful Christmas eve everyone!!

possibilities

possibilities

What about now?

What about today?

What if you’re making me all that I was meant to be?

What if our love had never went away?

What if it’s lost behind words we could never find?

Baby, before it’s too late

What about now?

– Chris Daughtry – What About Now   #lyricallyinspired

This past week has brought nothing but bad news.  First, the horrendous school tragedy.  Then a relative’s sudden and unexpected death.  And yesterday the news of a friend and high school classmate killed in a car accident.  I certainly find this #endoftheworld  stuff silly and usually amusing but recent events have dampened my lightheartedness.

These things, though, have also served as a reminder to not let days go by without doing or saying what you need (or should) to the people that matter in your life. Maybe you can’t eliminate it, but you can certainly minimize regret.

Despite recent events, I choose to look forward to 2013 with optimism, (13 is my lucky number after all.)  😉  Hence, a cheerful floral photo as my end of the world photo – looking up in anticipation of a new year to come filled with possibilities.
