chance meeting

chance meeting

In my never-ending quest for interesting flowers, I went to the Leu Gardens in Orlando recently. As I walked down to this lovely dock, I happened upon this beautiful woman in what appeared to be her wedding dress with her family. Turns out that she and her husband got married there – 11 years ago! They are Dutch citizens (coincidentally I actually speak some Dutch so that was fun) and had brought their young children on a family vacation to see where they had been married. Despite being totally unprepared to take portrait shots at near high noon, I took a few quick shots for them (with their camera and mine).

I love weird chance meetings like these. It was great to hear from her after she returned from the trip and I wish them many more years of happiness!

Balance

Balance

I need more of that in my life right now. Figuring out how to do that is the hard part. It’s not just what I want to do vs. what I should do – it’s also what I have to do vs. what I need to do for myself. See how it’s confusing? 😉

worth a little pain

worth a little pain

This is a bit of a post and run for Macro Monday curated by my faves: Kelli Seeger Kim, Kerry Murphy & Jennifer Eden!

Sometimes getting the right shot requires a bit of pain. Such is life, I suppose.

T. Roosevelt once said: “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty…”

I don’t believe everything has to be that way, but what I accomplish sure means a lot more when it requires some pain. Some days, though, I sure wish it was easy and I could just skip to the good stuff. 🙂

Have a great day everyone!

Let’s get lost

Let’s get lost

A blue heron at Silver River state park for my things with beaks album that has been sadly neglected. More “beaks” to come soon.

This past week has been all about music and it’s been awesome. It’s like a day at the spa for other people – the right music makes me feel all rejuvenated, optimistic, happy and alive. This week, though, I must get back to photo and tech work including the scavenger hunt which has a looming deadline. But there will still be time for music and (note to self) I need to be sure to make more space for it in my life.

will you still love me?

will you still love me?

I just couldn’t miss two #floralfriday s in a row. 🙂 Thanks to the wonderful Tamara Pruessner for curating! Have a great weekend everyone!

the only exception

Happy Spring!! I love this time of year.

The week ahead is going to be busy so this will likely be my last post until next week. I’ll try to sneak something in for Friday, maybe. Have a great week everyone!

The begging eyes of my dog say that to me every day. I have to give in and she knows it.

you capture my attention

you capture my attention

Music is just swirling around in my head today. It’s very distracting from all the other things I need to be doing. I will get focused. I must get focused for at least the next six hours or so. 🙂

one bright spot

one bright spot

Genetically, I’m half Irish, so today should be a great day for me right? It’s kind of like birthdays for me, some are great, some not so much. Today was a mix.

I’m happy I was able to get out and shoot stuff lately and I’m really happy with some of the photos. On the other hand, the ugly side of horse racing clouded that some as I saw a horse go down and not recover.

I ended up missing #floralfriday and have not been able to keep up with things here lately as much as I would like, but on the other hand, I did get a shamrock shake today. So, there was at least one bright spot in the day for me. 😉

Hope you all had a great St. Patrick’s Day!
